Nominations for DBA’s 2026 Advocate of the Year Community Outreach Award close this week

The Dairy Business Association is accepting nominations for the 2026 Community Outreach Award. All nominations must be received by the end of this week, Friday, Aug. 20. Winners will be announced at the DBA Annual Meeting in December. A formal presentation of the award will take place at the 2027 Dairy Strong conference on Jan. 14.
BECI Transmission Project Proposed Across Southern Wisconsin

DBA would like to flag a major transmission project that could have significant implications for Wisconsin agriculture and our members.
The proposed BECI 765-kV transmission project would run roughly 190–200 miles across southern Wisconsin, with a potential right-of-way of approximately 250 feet. Midcontinental Independent System Operator (MISO) selected the project earlier this year, and the developer is now moving through the routing and planning process. At this time, the final route has not yet been selected. Public open houses begin on August 24 where more information on the project will be shared along with an opportunity to share routing input.
Given the potential impacts on working farms, including farmland fragmentation, farm operations, drainage, construction and future expansion, this is an issue DBA will be watching closely.

The Dairy Business Innovation Alliance distributes grants to dairy farms and processors in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
