After starting the week with a thud, spot butter spent the week climbing

Spot butter closed Friday at $1.6500 per pound, $0.0950 higher on the week. CME blocks ended the week at $1.4200 per pound, down $0.0300 from last Friday. Barrels climbed $0.0200 on the week to close at $1.4800 per pound. Nonfat dry milk settled at $1.5975 per pound, $0.0425 lower.

Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative members are encouraged by Senate Ag Chairman John Boozman’s (R-AR) release of the Agricultural Act of 2026, a discussion draft for the Senate version of the farm bill. This action begins the work needed by the Senate to advance a farm bill before the end of the current Congressional session. The House passed their version in April.

USDA reports three new cases of screwworm, bringing total to 15

The number of U.S. cases of New World screwworm has risen to 15 after three more animals tested positive in Texas, the Department of Agriculture said in a post on social media on Sunday.

The USDA announcement comes nearly three weeks after the first domestic screwworm infestation in six decades was found in a Texas calf.
