We are now accepting nominations for two special honors that celebrate dairy farmers making a difference: the DBA Community Outreach Award recognizes farmers who actively share the positive story of dairy in their communities; and the Advocate of the Year Award, which honors individuals showing exceptional leadership in promoting dairy and sound policy both locally and beyond.
All nominations must be received by Monday, September 22.

Farm tariffs are reshaping U.S. agricultural trade, raising both challenges and opportunities for farmers. According to AgAmerica Lending, the U.S. farm trade deficit reached $28.6 billion in the first half of 2025, though USDA projects a narrower $47 billion deficit for the year, with further improvement expected in 2026.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture-Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service’s (APHIS) National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) confirmed a detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 clade 2.3.4.4b, genotype B3.13 in a dairy cattle herd in Nebraska.
July marks second straight month of strong U.S. dairy exports

U.S. dairy exports started off the second half of the year with a bang as shipments in July soared 7% (+14,144 MT) year over year in milk solids equivalents (MSE) terms. Though down on an average daily basis from June’s pent-up-demand-infused numbers, July’s result was nevertheless very strong by historical standards, boasting the second-largest volume moved in any month since August 2022.
